Perry is the father Perry is the child of Laurie Metcalf (actor) and Jeff Perry, a director. She first appeared in television shows in the role of Jackie Harris, a character that was played by her mother on her role on the ABC sitcom Roseanne. Perry was forbidden to start acting with her parents till the age of adulthood because they were afraid of the anxiety it could cause. Perry was shy during high school and wasn't a good actor. The actress began her acting career at Northwestern University to gain friends as she transferred from Boston University. Perry was a graduate of Boston University, relocated to New York in search of television roles. The actress was offered small roles in television shows, such as Law & Order: Criminal Intent. Then, homelessness drove her to California to pursue theater opportunities. In 2013, she was a part of The Other Place on Broadway alongside her mother. In 2015, Perry appeared with Kevin McKidd alongside her mother in Eugene O'Neill's Pulitzer Prizewinning drama Anna Christie. It is part of the Odyssey Theatre Ensemble is located in West Los Angeles. Perry was in nine episodes of ABC's thriller The Family during 2016. She was also a regular actor for the ABC Drama about politics Scandal with her dad. This year, she got a role as a young character of Mary Cooper (Sheldon Cooper's mother) on Young Sheldon, a spin-off of the CBS sitcom The Big Bang Theory again playing a young version of Mary Cooper's character. The part was offered to her by way of audition even though there is a connection between her family to the character.
